Sal is one of the islands of Cape Verde, belonging to the Barlavento group, the Windward Islands. It has an area of 216 km² and has 25,779 inhabitants. The island is one of the 22 municipalities of Cape Verde. The main town is the town of Espargos, which is located approximately in the center of the island. Sal is home to Cape Verde's first international airport, the Aeroporto International Amilcar Cabral.

The island is increasingly visited by tourists, mainly because of the eight-kilometer-long white sandy beach. The main tourist site is Santa Maria in the south. There are possibilities for windsurfing, diving, watercraft, sailing and fishing.

Sal is een van de eilanden van Kaapverdië, behorend tot de Barlavento-groep, de Bovenwindse Eilanden. Het heeft een oppervlakte van 216 km² en telt 25.779 inwoners. Het eiland is een van de 22 gemeenten van Kaapverdië. De hoofdplaats is de stad Espargos, die ongeveer in het midden van het eiland ligt. Op Sal ligt het eerste internationale vliegveld van Kaapverdië, het Aeroporto International Amilcar Cabral.

Het eiland wordt steeds meer door toeristen bezocht, vooral vanwege het acht kilometer lange witte zandstrand. De voornaamste toeristenplaats is Santa Maria in het zuiden. Er zijn mogelijkheden voor windsurfen, duiksport, waterscooteren, zeilen en vissen.
