The island of Sao Nicolau with 346 km2 and 13,536 inhabitants shows the result of a very active volcanic past. Monte Gordo with 1304 m is the highest point on the island. The island, with agricultural potential, started with the main export coffee, which was replaced by sugar cane.

Trekking or Hiking - Located at the highest point of the island at just over 1300 meters high, Monte Gordo National Park is an excellent choice for those who enjoy a brave walk, trekking or adventure.

It is worth the trip to the top, where the view is fascinating and you can see the white and shallow islets and islands of Sao Vicente and Santo Antao. Juncalinho, northeast of the island, is a ride that invites you to take a dip in the beautiful natural pool with crystal clear green water.

In the north is the Ribeira da Prata. For those who love ethnographic curiosities called “rotcha Scribida” with their uses, a mystery to unravel is a beautiful landscape that has been turned into myth and reminds us that these remote landscapes were inhabited by our ancestors.
