Margarida de Lege 

In June 2020 I organized a Webinar with the theme “Returns of Tourism”. I hoped that we would be beyond Covid-19 earlier and vacation in Cabo Verde would be possible again. But now in June 2021 there are still no vacation flights to Cabo Verde. 

During the Webinar it became clear to me that many Cape Verdeans were still stuck in Europe and Europeans couldn’t leave Cabo Verde. In collaboration with the Cape Verdean Embassy in Brussels and a number of Dutch Cape Verdeans, a repatriation flight was organized and operated by TUIFLY. Being part of TUI but still working for myself, I have taken on the task of sharing information with the community so that adjustments or improvement can be taken into account. 

What does 'TUI At Home Margarida de Lege' mean? I work for myself and only earn when I sell. The customer does not pay more than the online price or at the travel agency, but does have me as a contact person. All payments at TUI are exactly the same and therefore do not end up with me. So I'm not at the travel agency and I don't have access to online bookings. 

Cabo Verde is my specialization as a travel consultant, but of course I also have knowledge and experience with other destinations. Would you like to go on holiday to Greece, Thailand, Gambia or another destination? I’m happy to help you! Once again you don't pay more through me, but you do receive more service! 

But now back to Cabo Verde…. At the beginning of 2021, several sad stories reached me from people in the community who had to miss funerals or a last wish was not fulfilled due to missing (direct) flights. This motivated me to restore the flights from Amsterdam to Santiago and São Vicente despite code orange for Cabo Verde. From mid-April to the end of June there are again flights from TUIFLY to these two islands. 

It soon became apparent that the demand is high and the months of April and May for São Vicente are well booked. For Santiago, unfortunately the bookings are lagging behind. 

The situation on Sal and Boa Vista is worrying due to the suspension of tourism. This also has an (in)direct impact on the other islands. Many people have returned to their island of origin and do not have an (fixed) income anymore. I hope Cabo Verde will be able to vaccinate the population soon and the economy gets going again!

Em junho de 2020 organizei um Webinar com o tema “Retorno do Turismo”. Eu esperava que estivéssemos além Covid-19 mais cedo e que as férias em Cabo Verde voltassem a ser possíveis. Mas agora, em junho de 2021 ainda não há voos de férias para Cabo Verde.

Durante o Webinar, tornou-se claro para mim que muitos caboverdianos ainda estavam presos na Europa e os europeus não podiam sair de Cabo Verde. Em colaboração com a Embaixada de Cabo Verde em Bruxelas e vários caboverdianos holandeses, foi organizado e operado pela TUIFLY um voo de repatriamento. Sendo da TUI, mas continuando a trabalhar por conta própria, assumi a tarefa de compartilhar informações com a comunidade para que ajustes ou melhorias possam ser levados em consideração.

O que significa TUI At Home Margarida de Lege? Eu trabalho para mim e só ganho quando vendo. O cliente não paga mais do que o preço online ou na agência de viagens, mas tem a mim como pessoa de contato. Todos os pagamentos na TUI são exatamente iguais e portanto, não perde nada comigo. Não estou na agência de viagens e não tenho acesso a reservas online.

Cabo Verde é a minha especialização como consultora de viagens, mas claro que também tenho conhecimento e experiência com outros destinos. Gostaria de ir de férias para a Grécia, Tailândia, Gâmbia ou outro destino? Terei todo o gosto em ajudá-lo! Mais uma vez, você não paga mais por mim, mas recebe mais um serviço!

Voltando a Cabo Verde… No início de 2021, várias histórias tristes chegaram até mim, de pessoas da comunidade que tiveram que faltar a funerais ou um último desejo não foi realizado devido à falta de voos (diretos). Isso me motivou a restaurar os voos de Amsterdão para Santiago e São Vicente, apesar do código laranja para Cabo Verde. De meados de abril ao final de junho, há novamente voos de TUIFLY para essas duas ilhas.

Rapidamente ficou claro que a procura é elevada e os meses de abril e maio para São Vicente estão bem marcados. Para Santiago, infelizmente as reservas estão a ficar para trás.

A situação no Sal e na Boa Vista é preocupante devido à suspensão do turismo. Isso também tem um impacto (in) direto nas outras ilhas. Muitas pessoas voltaram para a ilha de origem e não têm mais uma renda (fixa). Espero que Cabo Verde consiga vacinar a população em breve e a economia volte a andar!

In juni van 2020 heb ik een Webinar georganiseerd met als thema “terug naar toerisme ”. Ik hoopte dat we sneller van Covid 19 af zouden zijn en weer vakantie op Kaapverdië konden vieren. Maar nu juni 2021 en er zijn nog steeds geen toeristische vluchten naar Kaapverdië.  

Tijdens de Webinar werd mij duidelijk dat er nog vele Kaapverdianen in Europa vast zaten en Europeanen op Kaapverdië vast zaten. In samenwerking met de Kaapverdiaanse Ambassade in Brussel en een aantal Nederlandse Kaapverdianen is er een repatriërings- vlucht georganiseerd en uitgevoerd door TUIFLY.

Als onderdeel van TUI maar werkzaam voor mijzelf heb ik de taak op mijn genomen om informatie vanuit de gemeenschap intern te delen zodat er waar mogelijk gekeken kan worden naar aanpassingen. 

Wat houdt TUI At Home Margarida de Lege in? Ik werk voor mezelf en verdien alleen wanneer ik verkoop. De klant betaalt niet meer dan online of op het reisbureau maar heeft mij wel als contactpersoon. Betalingen gaan precies hetzelfde als elders bij TUI  en komen dus niet bij mij terecht. Ik zit dus niet op het reisbureau en heb geen toegang tot online gemaakte boekingen.  

Als reisadviseuse is Kaapverdië mijn specialisatie maar natuurlijk heb ik kennis en ervaring met anderen bestemmingen. Wil je op vakantie naar Griekenland, Thailand, Gambia en of een andere bestemming dan help ik je graag!  Nogmaals je betaalt via mij niet meer maar wel meer service!  

Maar nu terug naar Kaapverdië….  Begin 2021 kwamen verschillende verdrietige verhalen bij mij terecht van mensen uit de gemeenschap die begrafenissen hebben moeten missen of een laatste wens niet in vervulling gingen door het missen van (directe) vluchten. Dit heeft mij gemotiveerd om ondanks code oranje voor Kaapverdië vluchten vanaf Amsterdam naar Santiago en Sao Vicente mogelijk te maken.  Sinds half april tot eind juni zijn er weer vluchten van TUIFLY naar deze 2 eilanden.  

Al snel bleek dat de vraag groot is en zijn de maanden april en mei voor Sao Vicente goed geboekt voor Santiago blijven de boekingen helaas achter.    

De situatie op Sal en Boa Vista is door de opschorting van toerisme zorgwekkend. Dit heeft (in)direct ook impact op de andere eilanden. Massa mensen zijn teruggegaan naar eiland van herkomst en (vast) inkomen is er nu niet. Ik hoop dat Kaapverdië snel de bevolking kan vaccineren en de economie weer op gang komt!
